Publication Ethics
International Journal of Advanced Geosciences follows the principles and guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The journal, its editors, reviewers, authors, and publisher share responsibility for protecting the integrity of the scholarly record.
Peer review and editorial independence
Research articles undergo double-anonymous peer review and are normally evaluated by at least two independent reviewers. Editorial decisions are based on scholarly merit, relevance, reviewer advice, and ethical and legal requirements. Commercial considerations do not influence editorial decisions.
Editors
- Assess manuscripts fairly, without discrimination.
- Protect the confidentiality of submissions and reviewer identities.
- Declare conflicts of interest and recuse themselves when appropriate.
- Investigate credible concerns and arrange corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern when required.
Reviewers
- Treat manuscripts as confidential and provide timely, objective, constructive reports.
- Identify relevant uncited work and alert editors to suspected overlap or misconduct.
- Decline reviews when expertise, time, or a conflict of interest prevents an impartial assessment.
Authors
- Submit original work that is not under consideration elsewhere and cite sources accurately.
- List as authors only those who made substantial contributions; all authors must approve the submitted and final versions.
- Report methods and results honestly, retain supporting data, and provide it when reasonably requested.
- Obtain required approval and informed consent for research involving humans or animals and identify relevant approvals in the manuscript.
- Disclose funding and any relevant financial or non-financial competing interests. If no relevant conflict exists, a separate declaration is optional unless requested by the editor.
- Notify the journal promptly of significant errors discovered before or after publication.
Plagiarism, duplicate publication, and data integrity
Plagiarism, fabricated or falsified data, manipulated images, citation manipulation, undisclosed duplicate publication, and inappropriate authorship are unacceptable. Suspected cases are assessed fairly and may be handled in accordance with COPE flowcharts.
Use of artificial intelligence tools
AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, citations, confidentiality, and integrity of their work. Material use of generative AI in preparing text, images, data, or analysis must be disclosed in the manuscript when relevant; routine spelling and grammar assistance need not be declared.
Corrections, retractions, complaints, and appeals
Substantive errors are corrected transparently. Articles may be retracted or accompanied by an expression of concern when the reliability or ethics of the work is seriously affected. Authors and readers may submit ethical concerns, complaints, or reasoned appeals to the journal contact address. Appeals are considered by an editor who was not solely responsible for the original decision whenever practicable.
